On Friday we went to get some of the extra footage we needed for the video to fill in any of the gaps we needed. Unfortunately, the equipment we had checked out was not the ideal equipment. I heard from the team that this was typical since it was the end of the year and students are trying to get in their projects. A new fact I learn since I am a business major. On the day of the shoot, it was a pretty cloudy day - so as Jermaine said it was difficult to get in the right lighting for the shots we were shooting. It was sunny the day before but I guess we were not so lucky with the weather that day.
However, it was still a productive day. We were able to get some broll of Eric with the bridge, broll with Kevin doing things in and out of the house and interviewing Aaron. It was difficult to get some answers out of him. He did not move around much and did not show much emotion as with the others. However, it was interesting to hear his story of how he wants to go back to serve in the navy. It seems that he is having difficulty adjusting to life here. When he was in the navy everything was provided to him. He did have to worry much about the basic necessities that he had to when he went out of the navy.
It was interesting to see that most of the interviews that we have had so far, was pretty much the same in terms of how they presented themselves in front of the camera. I never realized it until we were reviewing most of the footage we were getting. I somewhat get what the other team members were saying as to the interviewees not having so much emotion that would captivate the audience. I never knew how much thought and process is being put into making this video. It requires great creativity to convey a message to whoever is the audience and getting them to be engaged, even captivated by the content. Today we are going to work some more on the video trying to put together all of the pieces and maybe adding the intro and ending of the video also. Hopefully our video will convey the message that will capture our audience and maybe even get them to help out (in whatever way they can).
